EV Metals Group plc (“EVM” or “the Company”) a global battery chemicals and technology company, is pleased to announce the signing of a technical partnership frame agreement with Metso, a global renowned leader in mineral processing technology and services.

The agreement signed at the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh outlines plans to engage Metso as EVM’s Technical Partner.  Metso will provide technical, operational, maintenance, and systems support to achieve best-in-class operational performance and asset management for EVM’s Lithium Chemicals Plant (LCP) to be built in Yanbu Industrial City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The agreement represents an important advancement in EVM’s strategic roadmap for its flagship LCP project, establishing the Kingdom as a globally significant midstream hub for the production of high purity chemicals required by electric vehicle and battery cell manufacturers.  Metso is well placed to provide technical collaboration as a global leader in sustainable technologies, end-to-end solutions and services for minerals processing and metals refining industries. Its advanced alkaline leach technology is already being deployed in different Lithium Chemicals Plant projects around the world.

A key objective for EVM is to provide a world class environment in which to achieve global standards of operating performance for its LCP while developing local skills and capability and being recognised for diversity as a Saudi Arabian employer of choice. The Technical Partnership with Metso will provide EVM with significant support to achieve these outcomes. Metso’s collaboration will apply through all phases of the project from project sanction until achievement of steady state operations.

EVM’s CEO Luke Fitzgerald comments,The technical partnership with Metso is a significant development to accelerate progress of our Lithium Chemicals Plant. EVM will take a collaborative approach to ensure successful start-up and operation of the LCP, delivering key objectives of Vision 2030.  Metso is the ideal partner to provide processing technology and equipment for the entire lithium production chain from mine to battery materials.”

Metso’s Services business area President Sami Takaluoma adds, “We are extremely glad that EV Metals Group shows this confidence and appreciation for the high quality of our technological expertise and end-to-end knowledge when it comes to sustainable solutions and services. We look forward to further developing our partnership for the customer’s benefit. We are also committed to strengthening our service capabilities in the region to serve the growing customer needs.”
